Reasi terror attack linked to Pakistan-based LeT terror group
PTC News Desk: The terror incident in Reasi, Jammu, on Sunday evening resulted in the deaths of nine Hindu pilgrims travelling to Vaishno Devi and the injuries of another 33 after jihadists opened fire on the bus, causing it to plunge into a ravine. The attack was carried out by the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT).
Sunday night, the front group of the LeT, TRF, claimed responsibility for the heinous act in an attempt to demonstrate that local terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, not international Islamists headquartered in Lahore, carried out the terror attack.
An ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakh to be given to the next of kin of pilgrims martyred in Reasi terror attack. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000. The injured pilgrims are being treated at different hospitals in Jammu & Reasi.

Top official sources claim that the incident, which occurred during Modi 3.0’s swearing-in ceremony in Reasi, was planned and executed. The attackers are estimated to be 12 jihadists who travel in groups of two or three through the Rajouri-Poonch jungles in the Jammu region. Many Pakistani nationals from across the Line of Control are part of this terrorist cell. The Indian Army and security agencies vehemently deny any chance of a cross-LoC tunnel.
A control room has been created by the district administration to provide all necessary assistance. A joint security force temporary HQ by J&K Police, Army and CRPF has been set up at the site and operation is in progress to neutralise the perpetrators of Reasi terror attack.

The Indian Army and the jihadists have engaged in several firefights in the Poonch-Rajouri region over the last five years, with a significant number of Indian losses as a result of the terrorists’ superior surprise and quicker movement. Given that the Amarnath yatra begins on June 29, the Modi administration, especially Home Minister Amit Shah, has taken the Reasi incident very seriously.
The tough and forested terrain in the Rajouri-Poonch area has prevented many counter-insurgency operations from yielding results, even though Prime Minister Modi himself told the Indian Army to pull up their socks. There have previously been reports of a lack of coordination amongst the security forces in the 16 Corps sector, which the current Northern Army Commander, M V Suchindra Kumar, appears to be addressing.
While Bharat will respond to the Reasi attack in a manner appropriate to itself, in order to neutralize this Pakistani outfit, the Indian Army, the paramilitary forces, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police must collaborate to provide actionable intelligence. India is heavily deployed in the Jammu and Kashmir area, yet it cannot afford to lose any soldiers or civilians in the process.
