Indian-origin woman, 66, stabbed to death at London bus stop

PTC News Desk: On Tuesday, a 22-year-old man was accused of killing a 66-year-old woman of Indian descent while she was waiting for a bus at a stop in the northwest of the city. At the hearing, he was placed under arrest.

Last week, Anita Mukhey, a medical secretary for the National Health Service (NHS) and part-time employee, was waiting at the Burnt Oak Broadway bus stop in the Edgware neighbourhood of London when she was allegedly stabbed in the neck and chest by Jalal Debella.

He made an appearance at London’s Old Bailey Court, and at the case’s upcoming August hearing, he will enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. According to the Metropolitan Police, “at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, police were called to reports of a stabbing in Burnt Oak Broadway.”

In addition to London’s Air Ambulance (HEMS) and officers, the scene saw the 66-year-old woman receiving treatment for knife wounds. Regretfully, she passed away at the scene despite the emergency personnel’ best attempts. The cops said, “Her family has been notified.

Later on May 9, Jalal Debella was charged with the murder of Anita Mukhey and the possession of an offensive weapon after being detained on suspicion of murder in the Colindale neighborhood of north London. Sharp force injuries to the front of the chest and neck were determined to be a preliminary cause of death, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said the court.

“Anita Mukhey, 66, was a loving married mother and grandmother who also held a part-time position as a medical secretary in the National Health Service (NHS). In a statement sent by the police, Anita Mukhey’s family requested privacy at this trying time.

Reports state that the daylight attack shocked the town, with witnesses screaming and yelling for the perpetrator to stop.
