Friend claims Pune teen drove Porsche while intoxicated during crash: Sources

PTC News Desk: According to police sources, a buddy of the teenage driver acknowledged that the 17-year-old was also intoxicated when the horrifying accident occurred in Pune on May 19 that claimed the lives of two IT professionals. The young driver was operating the Porsche at the time of the incident.

The said that following almost six hours of interrogation, the buddy of the accused youngster had his statement recorded at the Pune Crime Branch office. According to the acquaintance, the teenager was intoxicated when he drove the Porsche and later crashed it. Other minor’s companions had initially claimed that the family driver, not the teenager, was operating the Porsche.

This happened only a few days after Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated that an effort was made to demonstrate that Gangaram, the family driver, and not the youngster, was driving at the time of the collision.

“There was an attempt to show that the accused was not driving the vehicle and someone else was driving, but they (family) couldn’t do that,” he stated.

Gangaram had also stated that he, and not the teenager, was the driver of the Porsche in his initial testimony to the police.

Gangaram’s grandfather, who was detained over the weekend, is suspected of intimidating him and pressuring him to admit to the police that he was operating the Porsche.

Before the fatal car accident that occurred in the early hours of May 19, the adolescent, who has been in a Children Observation Center for the past 14 days, had drunk alcohol at one establishment and then moved on to another.

Aneesh Awadhiya and his companion Ashwini Koshta, both Madhya Pradesh-based IT workers, perished after the Porsche collided with their motorcycle. Aneesh was taken to a metropolitan hospital where he passed away shortly after, but Ashwini passed almost immediately.
