PTC News Desk: At a huge ceremony in the nation’s capital today, BJP leader Narendra Modi will take the oath of office as India’s prime minister. Following two massively mandated governments, the veteran leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party will lead a coalition government.
Numerous foreign dignitaries, including the leaders of numerous neighboring nations, are scheduled to attend Modi’s inauguration.
Following the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party. Nonetheless, the party’s total of 240 seats in the Lok Sabha, the lower chamber of parliament, fell 32 seats shy of a simple majority.
With 28 Lok Sabha seats won by their parties collectively, Narendra Modi’s third government would depend on the backing of his National Democratic Alliance allies, N Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar.
At 7:15 p.m., Modi and his cabinet are scheduled to take the oath of office at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
There will be about 8,000 attendees, including dignitaries from several fields.
