The footage, captured on Monday at Putin’s residence in Novo-Ogaryovo, near Moscow, showcases a rare and informal moment between the two leaders.

In the video, PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, along with two delegates seated behind them, are seen enjoying a leisurely drive around the picturesque grounds of the Russian leader’s residence. The scene has quickly reminded netizens of a similar event involving North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Putin, where they took turns driving each other around in a Russian-built Aurus limousine.

During their visit, the two leaders also enjoyed tea on a terrace and took a tour of the stables. President Putin personally guided PM Modi around his residence in an electric car, offering a glimpse into the Russian leader’s private world.

Russian news agency TASS reports that most of their conversation was conducted through interpreters, though they did have a brief conversation in English while strolling to the garden.

This informal and friendly interaction between the two leaders contrasts with Putin’s visit to North Korea in June 2024, where he and Kim Jong-un were seen sharing the wheel of the Aurus limousine. That visit, which featured footage of the two leaders smiling and laughing as they drove around, had also garnered significant media attention.
