Thank you, God, for giving me…’ – Rishabh Pant after India’s victory over Ireland
PTC News Desk: When 12-year-old Rishabh Pant and his mother Saroj Pant moved to Delhi from Roorkee, Uttarakhand, he was full of cricket ambitions and eager to master the game’s techniques, but he had nowhere to reside.
Rishabh sought refuge at the Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib on Delhi’s Ring Road in order to train at the Sonnet Cricket Academy in Delhi.
There, Rishabh stayed the nights and anchored to feed his hunger. For this reason, Rishabh Pant improved his skills at the Delhi academy under the guidance of coach Tarak Sinha in order to effectively attain his goal of playing Indian cricket.
Rishabh Pant suffered severe injuries in a traffic accident close to Roorkee on December 30, 2022.
He is receiving care at Dehradun’s Max Hospital.
Let’s go over some of this incredible young player’s highlights…
“In Delhi I stayed in a Gurdwara”
Rishabh Pant was born in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, on October 4, 1997, according to ESPNcricinfo.
Rishabh mentions in an interview that his father Rajendra Pant was a cricket player as well. They desired that I also play cricket. I began playing cricket in first grade.
“I used to compete in local events in Roorkee. There, around eight in the morning, was where my camp used to begin. It took six hours to travel by road bus to get to the camp back then. So I would get the bus at two in the morning.
“Roorkee had not got cricket affiliation yet, so someone told me that I should go to Delhi and train,” Rishabh continues. I traveled to Delhi, Rajasthan, and back first.
“In Delhi I stayed in a gurdwara and I used to go to an academy nearby for cricket training.”

In a 2021 interview, Tarak Sinha, the coach of Rishabh Pant, stated, “During the summer holidays, kids from outside Delhi would come and learn cricket at a camp.” Rishabh arrived at the same camp as well.
“In a tournament where he played the best, then I thought he could emerge as a great player.”
In under-19, Rishabh excelled
At the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, Rishabh Pant demonstrated his skill for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy as he scorched 78 off 24 balls against Nepal.
In the same competition, Rishabh then hit a century against Namibia.
Even though India was eliminated from the competition, Rishabh Pant’s talent as a cricketer was identified through it.
Following this performance, Rishabh Pant was added to the Delhi Daredevils IPL roster. Additionally, Rishabh Pant confirmed his spot on Delhi’s domestic cricket team.
In 2017, Rishabh Pant made his Indian national debut in a Twenty20 match against England. In just his third Test match, Rishabh Pant scored his first century—and that too in England, home to several Indian legends.
He batted at number 7 in that particular match. India was up against a formidable 464 runs. It appeared that India would reach that goal by the time they reached the crease. He then went on to play a fantastic innings of 159 runs in Sydney versus Australia.
Following that, no one forgets the 89-run innings against Australia, when Team India’s outstanding performance helped them win both the match and the series. Playing boldly is Rishabh Pant’s style. Since he has scored between 90 and 100 in Test matches, you can infer something about his style from the fact that he has as many hundreds as Rishabh does.
We can understand this by using an additional example. At the age of 18, Rishabh Pant made his Ranji debut in 2015 against Maharashtra, when he struck a triple century. Against Jharkhand, he then scored two centuries in the same match. Among them, 135 runs on 67 balls were scored during the innings.
With the Delhi Capitals over the past seven seasons, Rishabh Pant has amassed 3000 runs at a strike rate of 148. He has been indispensable to the Delhi group. He was appointed captain of the Delhi Capitals in 2021.
