Swati Maliwal files formal complaint against Delhi CM’s aide Bibhav Kumar for ‘misbehaviour and assault’
PTC Web Desk: Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal submitted a formal complaint to the Delhi Police on Thursday regarding her allegations of misbehaviour and assault against Bibhav Kumar, a close aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Maliwal, the former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), recorded her statement before the police.
A team from the Delhi Police, led by Additional Commissioner PS Kushwaha, visited Swati Maliwal’s residence for over four hours to gather details about the alleged assault incident at Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence. Accompanied by a woman police officer, Kushwaha’s team arrived at Swati Maliwal’s residence around 1:50 pm to investigate the matter.
Although it’s unclear whether Swati Maliwal’s statement was recorded by the police, she had earlier visited the Civil Lines police station on May 13 to report that a member of Kejriwal’s personal staff had assaulted her at the chief minister’s official residence.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, over Maliwal’s allegations. Kumar’s hearing is scheduled for Friday at 11 am. Following the incident, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh condemned the assault on Maliwal, describing it as “highly condemnable.”
