Rajasthan police files case against 10 Punjab police personnel for abduction and extortion case
PTC News Desk: The Rajasthan Police have charged at least ten police officers from the Ludhiana police commissionerate for allegedly “kidnapping” a 22-year-old man from Jhanwar hamlet in Jodhpur with the intent of extorting money and linking him to a drug-related crime. Manveer Beniwal, the young person, has been getting ready for the Rajasthan civil service exam.
Manveer’s father, Prema Ram, claims that his son went missing on March 6 and that he filed a complaint two days later. On March 8, the Ludhiana police filed a formal complaint against Manveer, stating that they had apprehended him as he got off a passenger bus close to Sherpur Chowk.
Additionally, the Ludhiana police stated that they had taken 2 kg of opium out of his hands. Manveer was the subject of a Section 18 NDPS Act complaint filed at the Division 6 police station.
In contrast to the assertions made by the Ludhiana police, the Rajasthan Police’s FIR states that the latter discovered CCTVs at the toll booths at Nagore Road and Nokha in Rajasthan, where the Ludhiana cops were observed transporting the man in their car.
Prema Ram claimed Punjabi police wanted Rs 15 lakh in exchange for her son’s release. He claimed that the “errant” police officials threatened to name him in a case when he traveled to Ludhiana to investigate the matter. Senior officials he met with also paid no attention. He complained to the chief minister and the director general of police (DGP) in Punjab, but to no effect.
Inspector Inderjeet, ASIs Raj Kumar, Subegh Singh, and constables Manjinder Singh, Gurpinder Singh, Sukhdeep Singh, Basant Lal, Dhanwant Singh, Harpreet Kaur, and Satnam Singh are the Ludhiana police officers against whom the complaint has been filed. At the time, Inspector Inderjeet was the Division No. 6 Police Station’s station house officer.
The Rajasthani Jhanwar police station in Jodhpur has received the First Information Report. The following sections have been hit: Sections 18, 29, 27 (A), 58 (1) and (a) of the NDPS Act and Sections 363, 365, 384, 385, 167, 193, 195, 201, 204, 465, 471, 343, 120B of the IPC.
