Punjab Vigilance Bureau files case against ASI for accepting Rs 15,000 bribe
PTC News Desk: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has registered a corruption case against Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Karamvir Singh, who is currently posted at the Sadar Kharar police station in Mohali district. The case is part of the bureau’s ongoing efforts to root out corruption across the state.
According to an official spokesperson from the VB, the action was initiated following a complaint lodged by Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Maloya Colony in Chandigarh. The complaint was made through the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption action line, a platform designed to encourage citizens to report corrupt practices.
Sukhwinder Singh alleged that ASI Karamvir Singh had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 15,000 in exchange for facilitating the bail of his relatives, who were involved in a case registered at the Sadar Kharar police station.
Following the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau conducted a thorough verification process, which confirmed the validity of the allegations. Based on these findings, a formal case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station in Mohali. The case is being handled by the Flying Squad division of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau.
The spokesperson also confirmed that further investigation into the matter is currently ongoing. The VB has emphasised its commitment to conducting a fair and transparent probe to ensure that justice is served.
