Punjab Toll Plazas: Toll plaza closures in Punjab result in over Rs 140 crore loss – Know the impact

PTC News Desk: Punjab has suffered a great loss as a result of the shutdown of its toll plazas. It should be mentioned that Rs 140 crore 93 lakh have been lost since Punjab’s toll plazas closed. In relation to this matter, NHAI had petitioned the High Court.

The Punjab government was then served with a notice by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Now allow me to inform you of the extent of the damage that has been done thus far at each toll plaza.

First of all, crores of rupees have been lost every day as a result of the shutdown of the Amritsar Tarn Taran toll plaza. The shutdown of the toll plaza has cost Rs 9 crore 62 lakh in lost revenue thus far. Amritsar’s toll plaza was closed for 32 days in 2024, starting on February 9 and ending on March 12, then for nine days, four days, and now from June 6 to June 21

The second toll plaza is located in the Chak Bahnia village and is owned by Jalandhar. This toll plaza has cost Rs 2 crore 34 million in losses thus far. The dates of closure for this toll plaza are June 2, and July 2, 2024.

Ladowal Toll Plaza is the third toll plaza in Ludhiana. In Punjab, this toll plaza is the priciest. It made Rs 1 crore 7 lakh in a single day, and as of right moment, it has lost Rs 24 crore 69 lakh. This toll plaza is still closed as of right now. From February 12 to February 22, it was closed, resulting in a loss of Rs 6 crore 99 lakh.

The Gagar toll plaza in Ambala is the fourth toll plaza; a protest has caused it to remain closed indefinitely. This is costing the company Rs 74,00,000 a day, for a total loss of Rs 104 crore 28 lakh so far.

When considering all of the toll plazas combined, NHAI has already lost Rs 140 crore Rs 93 lakh. It is noteworthy that the NHAI approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court a few days ago, claiming that they are losing a lot of money as a result of the closure of toll plazas and that the government is doing nothing to help. Following that, the Punjab Government received a notice from the High Court. The case’s subsequent hearing is scheduled for July 10.
