Porsche accident accused’s family arrived drunk, tried to protect son: Pune police
PTC News Desk: The family of a 17-year-old accused of a drunk driving accident in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar on May 19, where two software engineers were injured, allegedly arrived at the hospital in an intoxicated state. According to a report by NDTV, Pune Police claimed that the family conspired with hospital staff to manipulate blood test results to protect the minor.
The accused’s father, mother, and brother were reportedly intoxicated when they arrived at Sassoon Hospital. Police alleged that they attempted to bribe hospital staff and doctors to replace the minor’s blood sample with their own to conceal the alcohol content in the teen’s blood.
The initial plan, according to the police, was to use the father’s or brother’s blood for the swap. However, both were too drunk, so the mother’s blood was used instead. The mother has since been arrested in connection with the case.
Eyewitnesses told police that the teen was so intoxicated that he could barely walk, yet the initial blood test reports indicated no alcohol in his system. This discrepancy raised suspicions, leading to the arrest of two doctors, a hospital staff member, and two middlemen from Sassoon Hospital for allegedly tampering with the blood samples.

The police also revealed that attempts were made to swap the blood samples of two other minors who were in the car at the time of the accident. The plan was to use the mother’s blood for all three boys, but complications arose due to mismatched blood types, the report noted.
On Thursday, Pune Police filed additional charges against the 17-year-old under sections for destruction of evidence, forgery, and offenses under the Prevention of Corruption Act. These new charges were included in a supplementary final report submitted to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB). The report also included technical data on the car’s speed at the time of the accident, along with witness statements supporting the new charges.
