Poet Surjit Patar Death: Dr. Surjit Patar’s funeral today; condolences pour in from India and abroad

PTC News Desk: Today is the day for the death rites of Padmashree Dr. Surjit Patar, the renowned poet and writer from Punjab. His final ceremonies will take place at Model Town Extension in Ludhiana at 11 a.m. with state honors. Due to a heart attack, Dr. Surjeet Patar passed away on Saturday, May 11. The literary community experienced a wave of sadness following his passing.

Ludhiana, correspondent for Jagran. On May 13 at 11 a.m., at Model Town Extension in Ludhiana, Baba Bohar of Punjabi literature, renowned poet, writer, and Chairman of the Punjab Arts Council, Padma Shri Dr. Surjit Patar, will be cremated with state honors.

Manraj Patar, the son of the late Patar, is a Sufi singer. He explained that his brother Ankur Singh’s absence was the reason the burial was being postponed. Ankur has now returned from his travels.

Manraj Patar, the son of Dr. Surjeet Patar, stated that calls are coming in during this time of sorrow from both domestic and foreign locations. The family had received condolences from the president of Shiromani Akali Dal, the president of the Punjab Congress, and the Congress Party candidate from the Ludhiana Lok Sabha constituency.

Dr. Patar is adored by people all around the world who are passionate about Punjabi language and numerous other celebrities. Nonetheless, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann frequently declares from the platform, “Ji patzad ta pher ki hai, tu agli rut cha yakin rakhi.” Mann is a huge supporter of Dr. Patar.

It is notable that Dr. Patar received an appointment letter to become the President of the Punjab Arts Council in Chandigarh from the then-culture minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu, during the Congress administration. Naturally, the administration shifted, but Patar continued to lead the Punjab Arts Council in Chandigarh.
