PM Modi hails Haryana mandate, salutes voters for BJP’s clear majority victory
PTC News Desk: In his first response following the Assembly election results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the BJP’s historic third consecutive term in Haryana, attributing the victory to the party’s focus on development and good governance.
Posting on X after the Election Commission confirmed the BJP’s win of 47 seats, with a lead in one more in the 90-member Assembly, PM Modi expressed deep gratitude to the people of Haryana and saluted them for providing the BJP with a clear majority once again.

The Prime Minister extended heartfelt congratulations to all BJP workers, acknowledging their relentless efforts that led to this significant achievement. “My heartiest congratulations to all my party workers who have worked tirelessly and with full dedication for this great victory! You have not only served the people of the state to the fullest, but have also taken our agenda of development to them. It is because of this that the BJP has got this historic victory in Haryana,” PM Modi said.
Despite exit polls predicting a Congress victory, the BJP overcame anti-incumbency sentiments and secured its best-ever result in Haryana, after being in power for 10 years. The Congress, expected to win 55 seats based on seven exit polls, initially led during the counting but eventually finished with 37 seats, just six more than its 2019 performance. The BJP, however, improved its seat count by eight from the last election.
The difference in vote share between the two parties was marginal—less than 0.9%. As of 7 p.m., the BJP held 39.94% of the vote, while Congress garnered 39.09%.
On Jammu and Kashmir
Congratulating the National Conference for its success but notably excluding its ally Congress, PM Modi highlighted the importance of the Jammu and Kashmir elections. He emphasized that these were the first Assembly elections held in the region after the removal of Article 370, which had granted special status to the former state, and Article 35(A), which allowed it to define permanent residents.
“The elections witnessed a high turnout, demonstrating the people’s faith in democracy. I compliment each and every person of Jammu and Kashmir for this,” PM Modi wrote.
The Prime Minister expressed pride in the BJP’s performance in Jammu and Kashmir, where the party won 29 seats, four more than its 2014 result. He thanked all those who supported the party and pledged continued efforts for the welfare of the region. “I am proud of the BJP’s performance in Jammu and Kashmir. I thank all those who have voted for our Party and placed their trust in us. I assure the people that we will keep working for the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir. I also appreciate the industrious efforts of our karyakartas (workers),” he added.
The National Conference-Congress-CPM alliance won a total of 49 seats in Jammu and Kashmir’s 90-seat Assembly, with the National Conference contributing 42 of those seats. Congress secured six victories, while the CPM won one.
