Paris Olympics 2024: Manu Bhaker secures bronze in Women’s 10M Air Pistol
Paris Olympics 2024: Shooter Manu Bhaker clinches India’s first medal in Paris Olympics, strikes bronze in Women’s 10m Air Pistol final.
At the Chatearoux Shooting Center, shooter Manu Bhaker won bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol final, earning India its first medal of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. By doing this, Bhaker wrote history by being the first female Indian to win an Olympic medal in shooting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweets, “A historic medal! Well done Manu Bhaker, for winning India’s FIRST medal at #ParisOlympics2024! Congrats for the Bronze. Arjun Babuta and Ramita Jindal, meanwhile, increased India’s chances of winning a medal by advancing to the finals of the 10m air rifle competition for men and women. Balraj Panwar, a rower, advanced to the men’s single skull quarterfinals after placing second in the repechage round.

India’s first medalist at the Paris Games is Manu Bhaker! Yeji arrives with a 9.4 while Bhaker fires 10.1. Bhaker finished in second place, but Yeji returned with a 10.5 following her 10.3 attempt. The Indian marksman was surpassed by a just 0.1 points! Bhaker wins the bronze medal to start India’s medal count.

Manu became the first female athlete from India to win a medal in shooting, with a final score of 221.7. Oh Ye Jin of South Korea, meanwhile, takes home the gold with an Olympic record score of 243.2. Ki Yejin, a different Korean, wins silver with 241.3 points.
Following her medal triumph, Manu Bhaker tweeted her happiness. She did, however, urge that more work needs to be done since she wants to improve in the other areas. She will compete in the Women’s 25m Pistol on August 2nd and the Mixed 10m Air Pistol tomorrow.
