New rules effective June 1: Changes to driving license, aadhar card, and more

PTC News Desk: Many rules will be changing as June 1st draws near. Staying informed is crucial since these developments will have an influence on day-to-day living. Changes to driving licenses, bank holidays, Aadhaar upgrades, and LPG cylinder usage are scheduled for June.

Let’s go over the main adjustments that go into effect on June 1. 

New Regulations for Driver’s Licenses

New requirements for obtaining an Indian driver’s license were recently issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. People will be permitted to take driving tests in private driving training facilities rather than at government RTOs as of June 1, 2024. These testing facilities will have the authority to administer exams and provide license eligibility certifications.

By phasing out some 900,000 outdated government vehicles and implementing stronger car emission standards, the new measures also seek to reduce pollution.

The remaining fine range for speeding is Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. If a minor is discovered driving, they will be subject to a hefty fine of Rs 25,000. The minor won’t be able to get a license until they are 25 years old, and the vehicle owner’s registration card will be cancelled.

Updates for Aadhar Cards

Aadhar Card upgrade in the works? That’s okay, though, as of June 14. Aadhar card updates are easily made online by users. You would need to pay ₹ 50 for each update if you decide to do it offline. 

Cost of an LPG cylinder

Prices for LPG cylinders are changed on the first of each month. New gas cylinder prices will be determined by oil firms on June 1. These businesses cut the cost of commercial cylinders in May, and it’s possible that they will do it again in June. In addition, starting June 1, as with every day, adjustments in the price of gasoline and diesel are anticipated.

June Bank Holidays 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has published a schedule of bank holidays, and in June, banks will be closed for ten days. Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays are among them. June also has two other holidays: Raja Sankranti and Eid-ul-Adha. Therefore, it is advised to check the holiday schedule prior to scheduling a bank visit.
