NEET UG Row: Supreme Court to hear appeals challenging NEET-UG 2024 results today
PTC News Desk: Following reports of a paper leak, the Supreme Court will hear arguments today over the need for a new NEET-UG exam. On June 4, the results of the medical entrance exam were announced, and multiple students shared the top spot.
One of the three petitions, concerning the contentious NEET-UG, 2024 for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other courses, was also submitted by the CEO of the EdTech company “Physics Wallah.”
A vacation bench made up of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta will consider petitions voicing complaints about the way the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG), 2024, was conducted, in accordance with the supreme court’s amended list of business.
The CEO of the EdTech company, Alakh Pandey, has filed a petition with the highest court challenging the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) purportedly arbitrary grace mark distribution to more than 1,500 applicants. The two distinct pleas submitted by Abdullah Mohammed Faiz and Jaripiti Kartheek have also been scheduled for hearing by the supreme court.
Pandey has pleaded with the highest court to establish an expert panel to “investigate the examination procedure and outcomes of NEET (UG) 2024” under its direction. On May 5, the NTA administered the exam at 4,750 locations, and almost 24 lakh people took it.

Although the results were supposed to be released on June 14, they were instead revealed on June 4, perhaps as a result of the answer sheet examination being finished sooner.
Protests and lawsuits filed in seven high courts, including the Supreme Court, have been sparked by suspicions of question paper leaks and the awarding of grace marks to over 1,500 applicants for medical school.
Six students from a center in Faridabad, Haryana, made the list of pupils who got a perfect 720, which is unique in the history of NTA and raised questions about irregularities.
On June 10, a large number of students demonstrated in Delhi to demand an investigation into purported anomalies. Grace marks are said to have played a part in 67 students sharing the top spot. The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the NEET-UG exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other relevant programmes at public and private universities around the nation.
