NEET-UG: CBI takes control of NEET paper leak case, investigating ‘broader conspiracy’: Sources
PTC News Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation, which took over the investigation after receiving a complaint from the Ministry of Human Resources, has opened a new case over the purported paper leak in the NEET medical entrance exam. Fraud and criminal conspiracy are the allegations in the new case against anonymous individuals.
According to sources, the accused who was detained by the states will also be placed under arrest. The investigation into the purported anomalies will now be handled by the CBI, the government declared one day prior to the CBI taking over the case.
After the NEET-UG 2024 results were announced on June 4—days ahead of schedule—there were claims of anomalies, including cheating, impersonation, and other malpractices. Since then, student protests have erupted around the nation, fueled by the opposition, and the issue has grown into a major political controversy.
The students have been requesting that the exam be rescheduled for all students, not only the roughly 1500 who achieved passing grades.
The government, however, has not approved of this, and today’s retest is for 1,563 candidates who were previously given grace marks.
