Neeraj Chopra’s Rs 52 lakh watch stuns at Paris Olympics 2024, sparks social media frenzy

PTC News Desk: When Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, it was another bright spot in India’s Olympic campaign. The standout athlete won the silver in the javelin throw with a season-best performance of 89.45 meters. One of India’s most reliable athletes, Neeraj has medalled in every major competition, including the Asian, Commonwealth, and World Championships. 

Neeraj’s watch from the event is the buzz of the town, even more so than his outstanding performance that helped India move up the medal standings. For the record, Neeraj joined the Omega watch brand’s ambassadors before to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Back then, he had been wearing a “Ultra Light” from the Seamaster Aqua Terra line. Omega’s official website states that the watch costs Rs 52,13,200.

After winning a silver medal at the Olympics in Paris, star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra intended to compete in India sooner rather than later against other well-known worldwide names.

With a javelin throw of 89.45 meters, Chopra finished second in the Paris showcase behind Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, who set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters.

Among the field that featured several well-known javelin throwers like Julian Webber, Jakub Vadlejch, and Julius Yego, Anderson Peters of Grenada placed third with a throw of 88.54 meters.

“I want to compete in India against other worldwide talents. In an engaging fan interaction hosted by Olympics.com, Chopra stated, “Hopefully, there will be an international competition in India soon and I can do that.” Prior to that, though, Chopra—whose silver medal marked his second consecutive Olympic victory after the gold in Tokyo—said he wished to improve on a few specific aspects of his game. “I’m about to embark on a new season. I therefore don’t have a lot of time to adjust my workout regimen or style. However, I want to work on a few things, particularly the javelin’s line.

“You know, the proper throwing angle to increase the force of my throw. “I’ll definitely work on it,” he remarked. Despite not feeling physically at his best, Chopra stated that he intended to give it everything he had in the Paris Games final.

“He had difficult physical conditions. However, when Arshad made that throw, I was able to hit my best of the season because I felt compelled to give it my all because the competition had already grown so difficult.”
