Namibian male cheetah dies at Kuno national park in Madhya Pradesh
PTC News Desk: Namibian male cheetah Pawan was found dead at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, according to park officials.
This recent fatality follows the death of a five-month-old cub named Gamini, who passed away on August 5. Pawan was discovered lying near the edge of a swollen nullah amidst bushes around 10:30 AM. A statement from the office of Uttam Sharma, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF) and Director of the Lion Project, revealed that veterinarians were called to the scene. Upon closer inspection, it was found that the front half of Pawan’s body, including his head, was submerged in the water, but no external injuries were noted.
The initial assessment suggests that drowning might be the cause of death. A detailed post-mortem report is expected to provide more information. Following Pawan’s death, Kuno National Park now houses 24 cheetahs, comprising 12 adults and 12 cubs.
