MS Dhoni slams micro-blogging site: “Nothing good has happened over Twitter”
PTC News Desk: Even though he is one of the most popular cricket players, MS Dhoni does not spend a lot of time on social media. In contrast to his peers, Dhoni doesn’t post on social media very often. His social media presence is so infrequent that there are even months between updates.
Dhoni provided a detailed explanation of his social media decisions in a video that was uploaded on Monday to a YouTube channel. Dhoni disclosed that he does not enjoy the microblogging platform Twitter, which was renamed as C following Elon Musk’s takeover. MS Dhoni does have an account on X; his most recent post was made in January 2021.
“I think nothing positive has happened on Twitter, so I prefer Instagram over it. There is always debate, especially in Indi, where someone will write anything and make it the center of attention. Why am I required to be present? It used to be 140 characters, as you are aware. You’re not allowed to get too specific. In a video uploaded on Monday by the Dubai 103.8 YouTube channel, Dhoni stated, “Imagine me putting something over there, and then it is left up to the people to read it and interpret whatever they want to interpret.”
“I’m thinking, ‘No, no, that’s not for me. I still enjoy Instagram because I can post a picture or a video there and forget about it. That is currently also evolving. Even though I’m not on it much, I still think Instagram is superior because there aren’t as many distractions. However, I would post anything for the fans to know where I am in between and when I’m not there. Somewhere nice, under capable hands, doing what I enjoy.”
He also discussed the difficulties of participating solely in the Indian Premier League and skipping all other competitions over the year.
The hardest thing has been learning how to stay in shape since I can’t play cricket all year round. In order for you to compete against young people who are extremely fit and have played international cricket once you arrive. Professional sports are difficult; no one offers you a pass. You have to be as fit as the other men if you’re going to play at that level. You don’t really get that grace as you get older, so exercise and good food are important. There are less distractions because I don’t use social media,” he remarked.
