Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Phase 5 LIVE UPDATES | The largest-ever election in history, voting for Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Phase 5 begins today in 49 constituencies spread across 8 states and Union Territories (UTs) amid tight security. 

Polling is taking place in various states across India. During the Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Phase 5, the polling is scheduled to take place across 5 seats in Bihar, 3 seats in Jharkhand, 13 seats in Maharashtra, 5 seats in Odisha, 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 7 seats in West Bengal, 1 each in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. 

As per the Election Commission of India, a total of 695 candidates are contesting in the fifth phase of the elections.

Prominent contestants to contest in Lok Sabha Phase 5 includes – Rahul Gandhi, Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Karan Bhushan Singh, Omar Abdullah, Piyush Goyal, Kishori Lal Sharma, Rohini Acharya, Ujjwal Nikam and Varsha Gaikwad.

Polling stations are all set to welcome the voters with ample shade, drinking water, ramps, toilets and other basic facilities to ensure that polling takes place in a comfortable and secure environment. The concerned CEOs/DEOs and State machineries have been advised to take adequate measures to manage hot weather conditions in areas, where it is forecast.

The first four phases were held on April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13 has been concluded while the subsequent phases are scheduled on May 20, May 27 and June 1. 

The counting and results will be declared on June 4.
