Jammu Delhi-Katra Expressway: NHAI officials face safety concerns in Punjab amid threat allegations involving Lakha Siddhana
PTC News Desk: National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials are reportedly unsafe in Punjab, according to a complaint lodged by the Jalandhar regional office with the Chief Secretary of Punjab. The complaint details an attack on an NHAI official related to the Jammu-Delhi-Katra highway project. Lakha Sidhana and local villagers are accused of threatening the officer and allegedly planning to set fire to the site.
The complaint highlights incidents from Jalandhar and Ludhiana, where the authority claims that insufficient legal action has been taken against those responsible, allowing them to be granted bail. The threats included plans to set fire to the camp office and harm the officers, yet no FIR has been filed regarding these threats.
In response to the complaint, the Chief Secretary has directed the DGP Punjab to take action, file an FIR, and resolve the issue promptly. The regional office is also expected to brief Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will review the project on August 28.
