Indonesian man, 45, kills neighbour over repeated questions about his marital status
PTC News Desk: According to The Straits Times, an Indonesian man killed his neighbor because he was furious and irritated with the neighbour’s persistent questions about why he wasn’t married.
The incident took place in North Sumatra’s South Tapanuli region on July 29. At approximately 8 o’clock at night, 45-year-old Parlindungan Siregar went to the residence of 60-year-old retired public worker Asgim Irianto and without warning began hitting him with a piece of wood.
Asgim Irianto’s wife provided a statement that the details of the attack were based on, according to local media, which quoted Assistant Police Commissioner Maria Marpaung.
Following the abrupt attack, the 60-year-old stormed out of his house and into the street, but Parlindungan Siregar pursued him and delivered a forceful punch to the victim’s head. Asgim Irianto, 45, is said to have killed his neighbor by beating him after he fell to the ground.
After intervening and stopping the attack, neighborhood residents hurried Asgim Irianto to the hospital. But according to Assistant Police Commissioner Maria Marpaung, the 60-year-old passed away en route.
According to local media, Parlindungan Siregar was taken into custody one hour after the attack. He told the police during interrogation that he was upset by Asgim Irianto’s frequent taunts and questions about his marital status, and that he was resolved to beat the man to death.
According to local media, the two apparently argued before the attack when their individual hens went to each other’s coop.
