IND v BAN: India sticks with winning formula, Jasprit Bumrah included in squad for Kanpur test
IND v BAN: Minutes after India secured a commanding victory in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced an unchanged squad for the second Test, set to begin on September 27 in Kanpur. Contrary to speculations, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has not been rested. The senior selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, opted to keep Bumrah in the squad, along with pacers Yash Dayal and Akash Deep. Sarfaraz Khan and backup wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel have also been retained and will travel with the team.
India dominated Bangladesh, winning the first Test by a massive 280 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

Despite expectations of resting Bumrah due to workload concerns, especially with a long Test season ahead, the selectors have opted for a full-strength squad. India is scheduled to play three Tests against New Zealand in October and November, followed by a five-Test Border-Gavaskar series. Bumrah and the pace attack will need to be in peak condition for the challenges ahead.
Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance in Chennai, particularly given the unique nature of the pitch.
“It was a great result considering what lies ahead. We hadn’t played in a while, but everyone stayed in touch with the game. Working as a group paid off, and we got the win,” Rohit said.
With their eyes on securing the series in Kanpur, India remains focused on maintaining momentum as they prepare for the upcoming challenges in the Test season.
