Heavy rain in Delhi and nearby areas brings relief from humidity
PTC News Desk: Today’s rains brought relief from the heat and humidity to Delhi and its surrounding areas, making for a nice morning.
With the expectation of strong rain over the next 24 hours, Delhi, its surrounding regions, Punjab, and Haryana have been placed under an orange alert.
Very heavy rain is defined by the India Meteorological Department as rainfall that falls in a day that ranges from 124.5 mm to 244.4 mm. On Monday, the national capital of Delhi experienced an abrupt shift in weather as areas of it was pounded by torrential rain.

The city saw its highest level of rainfall in 88 years in June. The IMD reports that between 8:30 a.m. on June 27 and 8:30 a.m. on June 28, Delhi received 228 mm of rain. With 235.5 mm of rain in total, June saw its highest 24-hour rainfall total since 1936.
But because of the rain, the Yamuna River’s water level has risen, therefore the authorities have sent out a warning to the people living in the villages along the riverbanks of Noida. During the rainy season last year, these people suffered catastrophic flooding, which caused major disruption to inhabitants of Noida and Delhi.
