ED submits new charge sheet in Delhi liquor policy case; names K Kavitha

PTC News Desk: BRS leader K Kavitha is one of the accused in a new charge sheet that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted to a Delhi court on Friday in connection with a money laundering case related to excise policies. According to reports, the prosecution has filed a complaint in Delhi Rouse Avenue Court alleging violations of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) sections 45 and 44(1).

The ED has filed six supplemental charge sheets in this matter, which has resulted in the arrest of eighteen people, including AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and leader and former deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia. Regular bail was once granted to Sanjay Singh.

On May 13, the court will hear the probe agency’s arguments about the matter of taking cognizance of the seventh chargesheet. Taking cognizance of the CBI FIR that was filed on August 17, 2022, the ED filed its money laundering case on August 22, 2022.

On March 21, Kejriwal was detained by the central probe agency under the PMLA from his official house here. On March 15, K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter, K Kavitha, an MLC, was brought into jail from Hyderabad. Arvind Kejriwal was granted temporary bail by the Supreme Court on Friday, subject to a number of conditions, which included a one-month stay of execution.

During the 21-day interim bail period, the court ordered Kejriwal to refrain from signing any official documents until absolutely required to secure the Lieutenant Governor’s approval. Judges Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta, sitting on a bench, declared, “He shall not visit the Delhi Secretariat and the Office of the Chief Minister.”

“He shall be bound by the statement made on his behalf that he shall not sign official files unless it is required and necessary for obtaining clearance/ approval of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi,” the highest court stated.
