Days before, at Eye Mantra Hospital in Paschim Vihar, New Delhi, a significant fire also broke out. This time, the incident occurred at Eye 7 Hospital. The hospital’s second floor was where the fire started. According to a Delhi Fire Services spokesman, everyone was successfully evacuated from the building and there were no injuries sustained in the event.
Six infants perished in a huge fire at a hospital in Vivek Vihar last month. All state-run and private health facilities in Delhi have been ordered to perform a fire audit by the government, while police are also looking into the reasons for the storage of 27 oxygen cylinders at the five-bed newborn center in Vivek Vihar, where other safety violations have been discovered.
During the fatal fire that also injured five other neonates, five of the oxygen cylinders had exploded.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, a huge fire started in a banquet venue located behind Ambience Mall in Gurugram.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare emphasized on Monday that regulations and fire safety standards must be strictly followed.
The ministry said in a press release that “in healthcare facilities, patient safety and well-being—including that of staff and visitors—is of the highest priority. A few locations have reported fire occurrences recently. These arise from either inadequate electrical maintenance resulting in short circuits, or from the usage of air conditioners and other equipment overloading the electricity cables. In order to prevent, detect, and successfully respond to fires, stringent rules and safeguards must be implemented in hospitals due to the possible risks associated with fire hazards. In addition to ensuring regulatory compliance, creating a thorough fire safety plan and practicing safety drills and evacuations will protect people and property.
After obtaining input from macro-level assessments, it instructed all states and territories to guarantee more stringent adherence to regulatory procedures and frequent simulated fire exercise exercises.
