Congress alleges targeting of opposition leaders as Mallikarjun Kharge’s helicopter undergoes inspection in Bihar
PTC News Desk: The Congress claimed on Sunday that poll authorities were targeting opposition leaders, stating that while party leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s helicopter was being inspected in Samastipur, Bihar, lawmakers of the BJP-led NDA were being permitted to travel “freely.”
On Saturday, Kharge spoke at consecutive Lok Sabha election rallies in the state’s Samastipur and Muzaffarpur.
Congress spokesman Rajesh Rathorre said in a video message on X that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s helicopter was scrutinised in Kerala, and party president Kharge’s has already been checked in Samastipur, Bihar.
The top spokesman for the Congress’s Bihar unit, Rathorre, also posted a video in which she asserts that the chief electoral officer of Bihar is personally keeping an eye on Kharge’s chopper as it is being checked at Samastipur.
The footage showed officials, including police officers, encircling a chopper.
“The Election Commission (EC) should clarify whether such checking of choppers of Congress leaders is routine and whether similar checks were also conducted on top leaders of the NDA,” Rathorre stated in the clip.
“The EC should make all such records public, otherwise it will be construed that it is only targeting opposition leaders to stop them, and is letting NDA leaders go freely,” he stated.
The EC ought to release films of every leader who has been vetted, according to the Congress spokeswoman.
