Charges of forgery and criminal conspiracy added against Pune teen’s father
PTC News Desk: The father of the 17-year-old Pune youngster who killed two people while operating his father’s Rs 2.5 crore Porsche electric sports car while “heavily drunk” is also accused of forgery, criminal conspiracy, and evidence destruction. Under the Juvenile Justice Act, the father—a wealthy real estate developer from the city who was detained while attempting to elude the police—is already accused of intentionally neglecting his child.
Due to allegations of cheating, the father is currently incarcerated until June 7; it is said that he neglected to pay the registration cost of Rs 1,758 for the pricey, high-performance car. As the Crime Branch has taken over all relevant cases, it is likely that he will appear before a district court on further charges.
The boy’s grandfather has also been taken into custody by the police and is being held for questioning. He is being accused of “wrongfully confining” a family staff member, who was allegedly threatened and bought gifts and cash to accept responsibility for the horrifying incident that involved the teen and two of his friends being driven to the start of a drinking spree to celebrate passing their Class 12 exams.
Charges of kidnapping and unlawful detention have also been brought against the grandfather and father.
It is anticipated that the police will question both people over this allegation.
Since the teenager, who is approximately eight years younger than the legal drinking age and four months younger than the driving age, ran over a bike carrying Madhya Pradeshi IT workers Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, 24, around 2:15 in the morning on May 19, the Pune Porsche crash case has taken a dark turn.
The boy’s blood test results were allegedly manipulated, leading to the arrest of two physicians from the state-run Sassoon Hospital. Amitesh Kumar, the commissioner of Pune Police, stated that the hospital samples that were sent for forensic testing to determine the teen’s possible blood alcohol content were not from him. “This implies that the samples were substituted,” Mr. Kumar informed the media.
“On May 19, at around 11 a.m., the teen’s blood sample from Sassoon Hospital was dumped in a trash can; another person’s sample was delivered to the laboratory. Chief Medical Officer Srihari Halnor changed the sample; we discovered that Halnor did so at the hospital’s request, according to Ajay Tawade, the head of the forensic medicine division.” Pune’s chief cop attested to it.

Concerns have also been expressed about the police’s disregard for protocol
The kid was not taken for a required medical exam within the allotted time frame by officers at the Yerwada Police Station, where the case was initially lodged. While he was being held in custody, they might have also permitted him to consume fast food, such as pizza and hamburgers, and—most importantly—water, which might have tainted the outcome of any necessary medical testing.
The teen’s absurd bail conditions, which were imposed within 15 hours after he ran over the bike and killed Mr. Awadhiya and Ms. Koshta, are among the other noteworthy aspects of this startling inquiry. The conditions included a 300-word essay on road safety and bonds of ₹ 15,000. The Juvenile Board changed its order and placed the boy in a detention home until June 5 after the terms caused widespread outcry.
Due to the seriousness of the case, the police have requested permission from the Juvenile Board to trial the kid as an adult, meaning he may be charged with culpable homicide that does not qualify as murder. He is currently merely charged with driving while intoxicated, which carries a possible six-month jail sentence.
Pune Police has maintained that the youngster was “fully in his senses” at the time of the accident and that he was not so inebriated as to be incapable of making decisions. “There is pressure… we are making an absolutely watertight case to ensure that the accused can go to jail for 10 years,” Kumar stated.
To support their “watertight” case, the police have also cited CCTV footage from a bar that the Pune youngster and his friends frequented, in which they are seen sitting at a table with multiple bottles of alcohol being served. Cosie Bar’s owners and employees have been detained and the establishment has been blocked off.
