BJP alleges missing sofas, ACs, and beds from Tejashwi Yadav’s vacated official bungalow
PTC News Desk: The political landscape in Bihar has become increasingly contentious as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Tejashwi Yadav of overseeing the theft of numerous items from the official bungalow he recently vacated. Missing from the property are key furnishings and appliances, including sofas, air conditioners, beds, water taps, wash basins, lights, and more. The BJP claims these items have been “stolen,” igniting a war of words between the two parties.
This controversy arises just as Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary prepares to move into the bungalow located at 5 Deshratan Road in Patna, which was previously occupied by Yadav. Chaudhary is set to make the move on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, a significant Hindu festival.
Shatrughan Prasad, Personal Secretary to Chaudhary, voiced the BJP’s concerns, stating, “We are bringing to light how the Deputy Chief Minister’s house has been robbed of its belongings. When Sushil Modi moved into this house, there were two hydraulic beds, there were sofa sets for guests, and all of this was visible to the press. Now, all those things are missing.”
Prasad elaborated on the alleged theft, asserting that “more than 20 split ACs are missing” and lamenting the absence of essential items like computers, chairs in the operating room, a refrigerator, and a reverse osmosis (RO) system in the kitchen. He added, “Lights have been snatched from the walls.”
In response, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Tejashwi Yadav’s party, challenged the BJP to provide evidence of the missing items. They demanded that the Bhawan Nirman Vibhag (Building Construction Department) release the official inventory of the bungalow.
A senior RJD leader stated, “The leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly has vacated the 5 Deshratan Marg bungalow. The Bhawan Nirman Vibhag must release the inventory. We have all the evidence. Our people, along with the media, were also making a video. We challenge you to release the inventory or apologise if you can’t do that.”
Union Minister Giriraj Singh, representing Begusarai in Bihar, also joined the fray, criticizing the RJD leadership and calling for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged ‘theft’ at the Deputy Chief Minister’s residence. He highlighted the missing essentials, stating, “Samrat Chaudhary has been allotted this bungalow and was to shift here during Navratri. Essentials such as wash basins, water taps, and furniture are missing. The hydraulic bed has been taken away, and the gym is empty—there are no exercise machines.”
As this political drama unfolds, both parties appear poised for a prolonged battle over the ownership and responsibility for the missing items, with accusations and counter-accusations likely to continue in the coming days.
