Ask Kangana Ranaut…: Akali leader’s shocking remark on actor-MP’s physical assault allegation
PTC News Desk: Former Punjab MP Simranjit Singh Mann sparked controversy on Thursday with his derogatory remarks about actor-politician Kangana Ranaut. The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) leader’s comments come in the wake of Ranaut’s recent allegations that “rapes” occurred during the farmers’ protest.
In response to a question about Ranaut’s statements on the protests, Mann said, “You can ask her (Kangana Ranaut) how rape happens so that people can be explained how rape happens. She has a lot of experience of rape.” This comment has been widely condemned for its insensitivity and derogatory nature.

The controversy began when Ranaut, in recent statements, alleged that the farmers’ protests, which took place from 2019 to 2020, were marked by instances of rape and other violence. She also claimed that bodies were found hanging and suggested that foreign countries, including China and the US, were involved in a conspiracy related to the protests.

Ranaut’s comments drew significant backlash from opposition leaders, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with which Ranaut is associated, distanced itself from her remarks. The BJP emphasized that Ranaut was not authorised to speak on party policy matters.
In an exclusive interview with India Today on Wednesday, Ranaut addressed the criticism, revealing that she had been reprimanded by party leadership for her statements. She acknowledged the criticism, stating, “I was rebuked by the party leadership and that’s fine with me. I do not think I am the final voice of the party. I am not that crazy or stupid to believe that.”
The farmers’ protests, which were largely driven by opposition to new farm laws, had significant political and social implications. The protests lasted nearly a year and were marked by extensive media coverage and public debate.
