Amit Shah condemns Congress for manipulated video, affirms BJP’s backing for reservation
PTC News Desk: A scathing retort was delivered by Home Minister Amit Shah against the Congress today, following the circulation of a deep-fake video depicting him supposedly advocating for the removal of reservations.
The perpetrator behind this deceitful act, Reetam Singh, a Congress worker from Guwahati, Assam, was apprehended yesterday for his involvement in creating and disseminating the fabricated footage featuring the Home Minister.
During a press conference held today, Amit Shah vehemently confronted the Congress, showcasing both the genuine recording of his statement and the maliciously doctored version to elucidate the stark contrast between reality and falsity. The manipulated video portrayed Shah advocating for the abolition of all reservations, whereas his original remarks pertained solely to the elimination of quota provisions for Muslims on religious grounds in Telangana. Notably, this specific quota had been rescinded by the BJP in Karnataka before ceding power to the Congress.
In his defense, Mr. Shah reiterated his unwavering support for reservations allocated to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, emphatically denouncing any intentions to revoke these entitlements. He underscored this commitment as “Modi’s guarantee,” reaffirming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advocacy for reservation policies.
Responding to allegations from opposition quarters regarding the BJP’s purported agenda of securing a parliamentary majority to abolish quotas for marginalised communities, Mr. Shah dismissed such claims. He refuted assertions that the BJP’s electoral slogan, “abki baar 400 paar” (this time, beyond 400), signified a strategy to garner sufficient seats in the Lok Sabha to facilitate the annulment of reservations for ST, SC, and OBC categories.
In unequivocally condemning the dissemination of the falsified video and reiterating the BJP’s steadfast support for reservation policies benefiting disadvantaged sections of society, Amit Shah sought to dispel any misconceptions or insinuations propagated by political adversaries.
