Akasa Air flight from Delhi to Mumbai diverted to Ahmedabad due to security alert
PTC News Desk: A security alert onboard caused an Akasa Air flight from Delhi to Mumbai on Monday morning to be diverted to Ahmedabad. Up to 186 passengers, including a baby, and six crew members were on board.
The aircraft made a safe landing at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at roughly 10.13 am after being diverted to Ahmedabad.
At the airport, all passengers were evacuated. “The captain landed at the airport by following all necessary emergency protocols. According to an Akasa representative, “Akasa Air is adhering to and supporting all safety and security protocols on the ground.”
Over the last three days, a number of flights operated by various airlines have had to make emergency landings because of threats or security alerts.
After receiving a “handwritten” bomb threat, a Vistara flight carrying 306 passengers and crew members arrived in Mumbai on Sunday under a full emergency alert. An analogous event occurred on Saturday night when officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport responded promptly to a bomb threat received by an IndiGo flight from Varanasi to Delhi.
An IndiGo flight from Chennai to Mumbai received another bomb threat, so it had to make an emergency landing at the Mumbai airport. After that, the aircraft was placed in an isolation bay in accordance with security protocols.
