70th National Film Awards: Date, time, and where to watch the live ceremony
PTC News Desk: The 70th National Film Awards ceremony will take place at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, celebrating the finest cinematic achievements of 2022. The prestigious event will bring together actors, filmmakers, and technicians from across the country, with notable names such as Rishab Shetty, Nithya Menen, Sooraj Barjatya, and Neena Gupta expected to attend. The awards will honour films like Aattam, Brahmastra, Ponniyin Selvan, and others, with President Droupadi Murmu conferring the accolades.
When and Where to Watch
The ceremony will be broadcast live on DD National starting at 3 pm, with the red carpet event kicking off the proceedings. The main event will begin at 4 pm, with viewers also able to stream the awards live on DD National’s YouTube channel. A highlight of the evening will be President Murmu presenting veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Winners at the 70th National Film Awards
- Kantara (Kannada) won the Best Popular Film Award for providing wholesome entertainment.
- Aattam (Malayalam) was named Best Feature Film, while Fouja (Haryanvi) won Best Debut Film.
- Ayena (Mirror) received the Best Non-Feature Film award, and Murmurs of the Jungle was recognized as the Best Documentary.
- Kutch Express (Gujarati) was awarded Best Feature Film for promoting national, social, and environmental values.
- Brahmastra Part 1 (Hindi) won the Best Film in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics).
Notable individual winners include:
- Sooraj Barjatya, who took home the Best Director Award for Uunchai (Hindi).
- Nithya Menen, Rishab Shetty, and Manasi Parekh, who were awarded Best Actor in Leading Roles for their performances in Thiruchitrambalam (Tamil), Kantara (Kannada), and Kutch Express (Gujarati), respectively.
- Neena Gupta won Best Supporting Actor for Uunchai, while Pavan Raj Malhotra earned the same accolade for Fouja.
- Naushad Sadar Khan received the Best Lyrics Award for Fouja.
- Pritham won Best Music Direction for Brahmastra Part 1 (Hindi), and AR Rahman was recognized for his background score in Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 (Tamil).
- Bombay Jayshree and Arijit Singh were named Best Playback Singers.

Jury and Announcement
The jury for the awards included renowned filmmakers and industry figures. The winners were announced by Rahul Rawail, Chairperson of the Feature Films Jury, Nila Madhab Panda, Chairperson of the Non-feature Films Jury, and Gangadhar Mudaliar, representing the Best Writing on Cinema Jury, in the presence of Vrunda Desai, Joint Secretary (Films) from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
