Andhra college toilet hidden camera scandal: Student arrested for selling leaked videos and photos
PTC News Desk: A troubling incident has emerged from Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Andhra Pradesh, where a hidden camera was found in the women’s hostel washroom. The camera had been surreptitiously recording students, and the footage was subsequently leaked and sold, leading to widespread outrage.
The situation unfolded when a group of female students discovered the concealed camera in their washroom yesterday evening. This alarming find triggered a significant response, with students organising a protest that began around 7 pm and persisted into the following morning. Chants of “We want justice” reverberated across the campus as students demanded accountability and answers.
In connection with the scandal, the police have arrested Vijay Kumar, a senior student from the boys’ hostel and a final-year BTech student. Kumar’s laptop has been confiscated for further examination as the investigation continues.

Reports indicate that over 300 photos and videos from the women’s hostel washroom were leaked. Some of these videos were reportedly purchased by other students from Kumar, exacerbating the situation.
The discovery of the hidden camera and the unauthorised distribution of sensitive footage have left many female students feeling violated and uneasy. There is widespread fear and discomfort among the students, with some even avoiding the washroom facilities altogether.
The police are actively investigating the case to determine if additional individuals were involved in setting up the camera and distributing the footage.
This incident follows a similar case earlier this month in Bengaluru, where a hidden phone was discovered in a women’s washroom at a popular coffee shop. The phone, found in a dustbin, was recording continuously through a hole in the bag. This earlier case was exposed by a content creator who discovered the device.
