Telangana man and colleague die in Saudi Arabian desert after losing GPS signal

PTC News Desk: A 27-year-old man from Telangana, Mohammad Shehzad Khan, tragically died of dehydration and exhaustion in Saudi Arabia’s Rub’ al Khali desert. A resident of Karimnagar, Shehzad had been working with a telecommunications company in Saudi Arabia for three years. He found himself stranded in the harsh and unforgiving terrain of the Empty Quarter, one of the most dangerous deserts in the world.

The Rub’ al Khali, or Empty Quarter, is a vast desert stretching over 650 kilometers, covering parts of Saudi Arabia’s southern regions and extending into neighboring countries. It is notorious for its extreme conditions.

The incident occurred when Shehzad, along with a Sudanese colleague, lost their way in the desert after their GPS signal failed. To make matters worse, Shehzad’s phone battery died, leaving them unable to call for help. Their situation deteriorated further when their vehicle ran out of fuel, leaving them without food or water in the scorching desert heat.

As the temperatures soared to unbearable levels, Shehzad and his colleague struggled to survive but ultimately succumbed to severe dehydration and exhaustion. Their bodies were discovered four days later, on Thursday, lying next to their vehicle in the sand dunes.
