Rajya Sabha adjourned sine die, one session early

PTC News Desk: On a day marked by an opposition walkout, the Rajya Sabha adjourned sine die one sitting ahead of schedule on Friday.

It was planned for the Upper House to convene until August 12.When the chamber reconvened at 1530 hours following many adjournments during the post-lunch session, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar voiced his displeasure with the way Opposition members behaved both inside and outside the chamber.

Later, at 1554 hours, he adjourned the House sine die. Jaya Bachchan, an actor and politician, objected to Dhankhar’s “tone” while he was giving her the opportunity to speak, and the actor-politician said that even a star like her should behave properly. This led to a confrontation between the two earlier in the day.
