Gambhir complimented the squad on winning the series and highlighted the exceptional performances, praising Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership in particular.

The Indian coach asked the team to immediately assess situations and adjust to different settings, emphasising the value of resilience and ongoing improvement. Gambhir also counseled players to make the most of their approaching 50-over format break.
“Make sure you have time for a break when you return for the Bangladesh Series. It’s something you truly deserve. But above all, maintain a high level of expertise and, most importantly, fitness,” he continued, emphasising the significance of being in shape and prepared for obstacles down the road.
With both bat and ball, Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh demonstrated their abilities and were crucial to India’s win. With 15.1 overs remaining, Sri Lanka, needing to reach 138, appeared poised for victory at 110 for 1. But then there was a dramatic collapse, as the hosts lost seven wickets for only 27 runs in 4.5 overs, leaving them level at 137 for 8.

In the Super Over, Washington Sundar played a fantastic innings, grabbing two wickets and giving up just two runs. The series ended on a high note as the captain went on to seal the victory with a first-ball sweep shot. Rinku Singh, who bowled part-time, made a significant contribution by taking two important wickets, including Kusal Perera, who scored the most at 46. Despite Khaleel Ahmed’s costly 18th over, which featured six wides, his over and the economy bowling from the other end kept India in the match.
With contributions from Pathum Nissanka (26), and Kusal Mendis (43), Sri Lanka’s top order had established strong partnerships and placed the team in a commanding position. But as they gave in to pressure in the closing seconds, their inability to finish the game brought attention to a persistent problem for the club.
