Jammu and Kashmir: Army foils terrorist infiltration attempt in Rajouri; one soldier injured

PTC News Desk: Early on Tuesday, the Indian Army stopped an attempt to infiltrate along the Rajouri line of control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. During the intense gunfight with the terrorists who had infiltrated, one soldier was hurt.

According to officials, the operation in the Battal sector has started.”Alert troops engaged infiltrating terrorists with effective fire in the Battal Sector at 0300h, foiling their attempt at infiltration.” One brave soul has been wounded in the heavy fire exchange. The White Knight Corps (16 Corps) of the Indian Army stated in an X post that “operations are continuing.”

Second attack in 24 hours in Rajouri

This occurs one day following a Monday terrorist attack on a Village Defence Guard (VDG) member’s home in Gundha, Rajouri. But a neighboring alert Army unit moved quickly to avert significant damage. The insult was directed towards Parshottam Kumar, who was recently bestowed with the Shaurya Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu. In the gunshots, a cow was killed and his uncle Vijay Kumar was hurt.

Spike in terror activities in Jammu

There have been a lot of terror incidents in Jammu this year, which have claimed the lives of 27 people—11 security guards, 1 village defense guard, and 5 terrorists. Six districts have seen close to a dozen attacks.

Two army soldiers were hurt on Thursday in a gunfight in Doda with militants. At around two in the morning, terrorists also attacked a makeshift camp at a government school in Jaddan Bata village, seriously wounding a soldier who had to be flown to an Udhampur hospital.

In a different incident, late on Wednesday night, security personnel stationed at a forward post close to the Line of Control in the Rajouri district’s Sunderbani area opened fire on any suspicious activity. On Thursday, a search turned up no proof of the alleged activities.

In the Doda region on July 16, four soldiers—among them an officer—were shot and killed in a battle with highly armed terrorists.

A terrorist ambush in the Machedi forest area of Kathua district a week ago resulted in the deaths of five troops and the injuries of five more.
