Terrorists attack army camp in J-K’s Rajouri, forces to launch major operation
PTC News Desk: Following terrorist firing at the Indian Army’s new camp in the Gundha Khawas area of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, early on Monday morning, security forces started a large search operation in the area. However, the terrorists’ plan was thwarted by vigilant security personnel, and a gunfight broke out.
Defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal declared, “A major terror attack on an Army picket in remote village of Rajouri has been thwarted.” The spokesperson went on to say that the operation is ongoing and that firing has started.
According to reports, one soldier is hurt, although authorities have not yet verified this. This occurs just a few days after Jammu and Kashmir Police, paramilitary troops, and intelligence met to jointly assess the current security situation under the leadership of Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday.

The attack comes after a similar incident on Thursday in the Doda district that left two Army personnel injured during a battle with terrorists. Around two in the morning, militants opened fire on a makeshift camp at a government school in Jaddan Bata village. A soldier who was seriously hurt was airlifted to the Udhampur command hospital via helicopter.
In a different incident, late on Wednesday night, security personnel manning a forward station close to the Line of Control (LoC) in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district opened fire after noticing suspicious activity. According to police, a search conducted early on Thursday morning turned up no evidence of the suspected behaviour.
