UP BJP chief meets PM Modi amid reports of Yogi Adityanath and Keshav Maurya rift
PTC News Desk: In the midst of rumors of disagreements between Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Keshav Prasad Maurya, his deputy, UP BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. The meeting happened a few weeks after the BJP’s unexpected defeat in the state’s Lok Sabha elections, and in the midst of talk of an impending organisational restructure in Uttar Pradesh.
According to PTI, the lawmaker informed PM Modi about organisational issues that the party was facing in the politically significant state.
Chaudhary and Maurya met JP Nadda, the president of the BJP, on Tuesday. Days had passed since Keshav Prasad Maurya said, during a party, that “organisations are always bigger than governments and no one can be bigger than them.”
JP Nadda, the leader of the BJP, and Yogi Adityanath were there when the statement was made. The chief minister attributed the poll reversals to overconfidence. Today, Maurya reiterated his assertion that “organisation is bigger” in a mysterious post on X.
“The organisation is larger than the government, and I feel the pain of my coworkers.” No one is greater than the organisation; employees are its greatest asset,” the deputy chief medical officer’s office wrote in a post posted on X.
According to reports, the BJP’s high brass is in contact with Maurya and Chaudhary, who are making efforts to organise their affairs in order to stave off a rising opposition.
There are rumors that a significant organisational restructuring in Uttar Pradesh would shortly be announced by the top leadership of the BJP. The BJP’s main goal, according to PTI, which cited sources, is to perform well in the next assembly by-elections in ten UP seats.

Keshav Prasad Maurya slams Akhilesh Yadav
Keshav Prasad Maurya, in the meantime, stated today that the BJP is powerful at the state and federal levels and will win the UP assembly elections in 2027 after his remark sparked criticism of the party from the Opposition.
“SP Bahadur Shri Akhilesh Yadav ji, the PDA of the SP is a sham. The BJP is a powerful national and state government.” He posted on X, “The BJP will replicate 2017 in the 2027 assembly elections; the return of SP’s hooliganism in UP is impossible.”
He was responding to Akhilesh Yadav’s statement that the BJP was divided.
“Governance and administration in UP have been neglected in the midst of the BJP’s power struggle. The BJP is currently engaging in internal political sabotage, a practice it previously carried out inside other parties. For this reason, the BJP is becoming mired in internal strife. Yadav had written on X, “No one in the BJP thinks about the public.”

How the BJP fared in Lok Sabha polls in UP?
Of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state, the BJP-led NDA won 36, while the INDIA alliance, which includes the Congress and the SP, got 43. In 2019, the NDA secured 64 seats.
The BJP was unable to pass the halfway point in the Lok Sabha as a result of its poor performance in Uttar Pradesh.
