Jammu and Kashmir police issues advisory for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims

PTC News Desk: An advisory for the 52-day annual Amarnath Yatra was released by the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday. The first group of pilgrims is scheduled to depart on Friday morning.

“No yatri or tourist will be allowed to cross the Navyug tunnel towards Kashmir after 1500 hours (3 pm),” the alert states. Likewise, “By 1730 hours (5.30 pm) the last vehicle must cross Walnut Factory, Qazigund towards Navyug Tunnel.” It was advised that pilgrims and visitors should “travel in Kashmir Valley between 7 am and 6 pm.” “No additional movement is permitted after 1800 hours, and the vehicles will be directed to the nearest Yatri or Security Forces camp,” the statement stated.

On Friday morning, the first group of pilgrims will depart from Jammu’s base camp at Bhagwati Nagar. Despite being only 14 kilometers, the Baltal route is deemed challenging because to its steep elevation, in contrast to the 48 km of the classic Chandanwari route.

A three-tiered security system has been implemented by the J&K Police in and around Bhagwati Nagar’s Amarnath base camp. “Adequate security arrangements have been made for the yatra,” stated Dr. Vinod Kumar, the SSP for Jammu. High-rise structures predominate, the security apparatus is in place, and the Quick Reaction Teams have been alerted.
