Ludhiana: Bodies of 5 youth who drowned in Sutlej found; while bathing 3 days ago
PTC News Desk: In a tragic incident near Kasabad village of Ludhiana, the bodies of five youths who drowned in the Sutlej River three days ago have been recovered. The victims, all aged between 18 to 19 years old, had gone to the riverbank to bathe when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Reportedly, a group of youths had gathered at the bank of the Sutlej River near Kasabad village for a refreshing dip. Tragically, four out of six friends from one group were swept away by the river’s strong currents. Additionally, a youth from another group also met with the same fate. Despite continuous efforts by divers over the past three days, the bodies remained missing.
Yesterday, the bodies of two of the missing youths were discovered, and today, the remaining three bodies were also recovered. The deceased have been identified as Shami, Zaheer Hesan, RN. Sharma, and Mijbaul.
The police have taken custody of the bodies and have initiated further proceedings.

This heartbreaking incident from Ludhiana turned a leisurely outing into a tragedy. Seven friends ventured to the Sutlej River’s bank near Kasabad village to beat the heat. However, what was intended as a fun day out quickly turned catastrophic when four of the friends were swept away by the river’s powerful currents.
Details are still emerging about the circumstances leading to the drowning. Two survivors recounted their harrowing attempts to rescue their friends, but unfortunately, they couldn’t save them. The authorities were alerted immediately, and a search operation commenced promptly.
Presently, police and diving teams are tirelessly searching for the missing youths. Preliminary reports have identified Sameer Khan and Shahbaj Ansari as two of the victims. The families of the deceased are grappling with immense grief, trying to come to terms with their sudden loss.
The youths, Sameer Khan, Misaul, Zaheer, and Shahbaz Ansari, were aged between 18 and 20 years old. They had arrived at the site on Sunday afternoon for a leisurely swim to beat the summer heat. However, tragedy struck as they ventured into deeper waters, succumbing to the river’s forceful currents.
As the search operation continues, the community mourns the loss of these promising young lives, emphasising the importance of water safety and vigilance near natural bodies of water.
