‘CISF constable must have taken fat bribes from Khalistani supporters to slap Kangana’: BJP MP’s sister courts row over her remarks
PTC Web Desk: The ongoing controversy involving Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut took a new turn on Friday when her sister, Rangoli Chandel, made incendiary claims about the CISF constable, who allegedly slapped Kangana at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday. This incident, which has roots in the contentious remarks made by Kangana during the farmers’ protests, has sparked widespread public and political debate.
The incident took place on Thursday when Kangana Ranaut was at the Chandigarh airport, preparing to board a flight to Delhi. CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur reportedly slapped Kangana, a moment captured on video and swiftly circulated on social media. This altercation was linked to Kangana’s controversial statement during the 2020 farmers’ protests, where she remarked, “These women get paid Rs 100 to sit in protests.”
Upon arrival in Delhi, Kangana posted a video statement addressing the incident. In her video, she expressed concern over the rising influence of terrorism in Punjab but assured her followers that she was physically unharmed. “I am okay now, but what worries me is the growing terrorism in Punjab,” she said. Her remarks seemed to escalate the situation further, igniting public outrage and amplifying the debate around the incident.
Public sentiment largely favoured the CISF constable, with many expressing support for Kulwinder Kaur. This support was rooted in the belief that Kaur’s actions were a reaction to Kangana’s previous derogatory comments about women protesters.
Adding fuel to the fire, Rangoli Chandel, Kangana’s sister, made a provocative statement stating Kulwinder Kaur’s actions were influenced by political motives and external encouragement. “This constable must have received fat bribes from Khalistani supporters to slap Kangana,” Rangoli alleged. She went on to argue that merely suspending the constable was insufficient and called for her to be taken into custody. “Suspending her is not enough. She should be taken into remand and thoroughly investigated,” Rangoli demanded.
Who is Kulwinder Kaur?
Kulwinder Kaur, the CISF constable involved in the incident, is from a family of farmers and has been with the Central Industrial Security Force since 2009. She has been serving at the Chandigarh airport as part of the aviation security group since 2021. According to officials, Kaur has had an unblemished service record, with no prior vigilance inquiries or disciplinary actions against her. Her husband also works at the same airport.
In a viral video that surfaced following the incident, Kaur defended her actions by referencing Kangana’s controversial comment. “My mother was there,” Kaur said, highlighting the personal impact of Kangana’s statement on her family, which is involved in farming.
