Punjab Lok Sabha Elections 2024 LIVE UPDATES | The largest-ever election in history, voting for Punjab Lok Sabha Elections 2024 begins today for 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab and the lone Chandigarh seat amid tight security.
After days of hectic campaigning and high election fever among various political parties, polling for the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab and the lone Chandigarh seat is taking place from 7 am to 6 pm. In a notable shift, allies in the INDIA bloc, Congress and AAP, will be contesting separately.
Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have also chosen to contest independently for the first time since 1996.
Punjab divided into 13 constituencies represents a diverse mix of urban and rural areas. Key constituencies of Punjab are – Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Anandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, Patiala, which are known for their significant political activity and voter engagement are all set to fray in Lok Sabha Polls 2024 .
The union territory of Chandigarh has its lone Lok Sabha seat up for elections 2024.
The voting for the Punjab Lok Sabha Polls 2024 began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.

A total of 328 candidates, including 26 women, are contesting in Punjab. In Chandigarh, 19 candidates, including two women, are in the fray. An estimated 2.14 crore voters are eligible to vote, with a target of achieving over 70 percent turnout. A voter queue information system has been launched to help voters check the length of queues at their polling stations.
This marks the end of a seven-phase electoral process that began on April 19. The final phase, taking place today, is closely watched, especially as attention shifts to the exit polls that will follow.
The seven-phase election commenced on April 19, with subsequent phases on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, and May 25.
