Buddha Purnima Bank Holiday: On May 23, banks will be closed in several states to observe Buddha Purnima, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday list. However, digital banking services will still be available for customers.
Where will banks be closed for Buddha Purnima?
On May 23, banks will be closed in Tripura, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Srinagar.
For the month of May 2024, banks will be closed for 14 days as per the RBI holiday list. The holidays include Maharashtra Day/May Day (Labour Day), Lok Sabha General Elections 2024, the Birthday of Rabindranath Tagore, Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya, State Day, Buddha Purnima, and Nazrul Jayanti. Note that these holidays may vary depending on the state. The RBI classifies certain holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
Bank Holiday on May 25
On May 25, banks will be closed for Nazrul Jayanti/Lok Sabha elections 2024 (fourth Saturday) in Tripura and Odisha.
