Collision at Pune Airport runway: Air India flight carrying 180 passengers hits tug tractor
PTC News Desk: On Thursday, at Pune Airport, an Air India aircraft carrying 180 people crashed into a tug tractor, according to news agency ANI. The airplane sustained damage from the incident, but no passengers were hurt. The airplane, which was carrying about 180 people, had a flat tire close to the landing gear and damage to its nose.
All passengers and personnel on board are reportedly safe despite the incident, an airport spokesman informed the news agency.
After the incident, the passengers were forced to get off the aircraft. The travellers were left stranded at the airport and other arrangements were made for them.
According to ANI, an investigation has been started by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to ascertain what caused the collision. According to preliminary accounts, the aircraft was damaged by the tug vehicle that was used to maneuver it on the ground as it was taxiing.
Although the impacted aircraft was temporarily taken out of service for a thorough inspection and repairs and is again back in service, airport operations resumed without any major disturbance.
