Rajnath Singh warns of Congress fuelling Hindu-Muslim divide
PTC News Desk: In a stern rebuke to the Congress party, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has accused them of dangerously stoking tensions between Hindu and Muslim communities in pursuit of political advantage.
In a recent interview with PTI news agency, Singh expressed grave concerns over Congress’s alleged strategy of exploiting religious fault lines for electoral success, cautioning that such divisive tactics could have far-reaching consequences for India’s social fabric.
Singh minced no words in condemning what he perceives as Congress’s cynical manipulation of religious sentiments for electoral gains. He asserted, “They are attempting to create a Hindu-Muslim divide for electoral gains. The Congress is trying to create tensions on religious lines.” He further accused the party of viewing the Muslim community solely as a vote bank, rather than engaging with them as equal citizens in nation-building efforts.
Singh’s critique extended to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, whom he accused of lacking the passion necessary for effective leadership. “Rahul Gandhi has no fire, but Congress is playing with fire,” he remarked, suggesting that the party’s divisive tactics lacked genuine conviction and were driven solely by electoral calculations.
Moreover, Singh warned against Congress’s proposed policy initiatives, particularly its plan to introduce an “inheritance tax,” which he argued would precipitate an economic downturn akin to those witnessed in Argentina and Venezuela. He contended that such measures would undermine investor confidence and hinder India’s economic progress.
Confident in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) electoral prospects, Singh predicted a landslide victory for the party and its allies in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Citing meticulous assessments of ground realities, he projected that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure over 400 seats, with the BJP alone clinching 370 seats.
Singh outlined the BJP’s electoral strategy, highlighting regions where the party anticipated gains, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Assam, and Chhattisgarh. He expressed confidence in the party’s ability to expand its footprint across these states, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to delivering on its electoral promises, such as the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and ‘One Nation, One Election’.
In reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to governance and national unity, Singh emphasized, “We always fulfil our commitments. We will never allow any question mark on our credibility and won’t compromise on the country’s unity and integrity.” He underscored the party’s resolve to translate its manifesto pledges into concrete actions, asserting that the BJP’s track record spoke volumes about its dedication to the welfare and progress of the nation.
