UP man pretending as Singapore Airlines pilot arrested at Delhi airport
New Delhi, April 26: Delhi Airport on Friday witnessed a peculiar incident as a 24-year-old youth, identified as Sangeet Singh from Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar, was arrested by CISF personnel for pretending as a commercial pilot with Singapore Airlines. He was strolling around the airport skywalk dressed in a pilot’s uniform, deceiving even his own family with his false identity.
Despite his attempts to pass himself off as a Singapore Airlines pilot, Sangeet Singh’s deception was soon unraveled upon closer scrutiny. Investigations revealed that his purported credentials were forged, including a counterfeit ID card supposedly issued by Singapore Airlines. It was found that he had created the fake ID card using a business card maker application and had acquired the pilot’s uniform from the Dwarka area of Delhi.
Further inquiries revealed that he had completed a one-year aviation hospitality course in Mumbai in 2020. However, his unauthorised attempt to assume the role of a pilot at the airport raised serious concerns regarding security and authenticity.
“A case has been registered against the accused,” confirmed a senior police official.
