4 Sri Lankan ISIS terrorists arrested at Ahmedabad airport
PTC News Desk: There were four terrorists from the Islamic State at Ahmedabad airport, the police reported on Monday. According to the authorities, their Pakistani handler assigned them the job of carrying out suicide strikes in Gujarat.
Mohamed Nusrath, Mohamed Nafran, Mohamed Faris, and Mohamed Rasdeen have been identified as the terrorists.
Deputy General of Police Vikas Sahay told the media that the four terrorists are Sri Lankan nationals who were radicalised by the ideology of the Islamic State. He claimed that they don’t comprehend Hindi or English and only speak Tamil.
He added that on Sunday, May 19, the ISIS agents traveled from Colombo to Chennai and then on to Ahmedabad.
“We received information that four terrorists were going to reach Ahmedabad on May 18 or 19 either by train or flight… Teams were formed and strategy was created based on the information received… Passenger lists of trains and flights coming from the south were analysed… All four of them were travelling from Chennai to Ahmedabad on the same PNR number through an Indigo flight. Verification was done in Colombo too for confirmation,” said the DGP.
They had two cell phones, cash from India and Sri Lanka, weapons made in Pakistan, an Islamic State flag, and other items, he claimed.
According to DGP Sahay, the terrorists had communication with Abu, an Islamic State agent, when they were in Pakistan. He had given them Rs 4 lakh to construct bombs and given them the mission of carrying out suicide strikes in Gujarat.
The DGP added that after looking through their phones, the police discovered references to a few areas close to Ahmedabad, where they were probably planning terror acts.
